For Monday 2/3

On Thursday we continued examining causes of industrialization in the 1870s and 1880s.  In groups we researched specific topics and created one-pagers to present to the class. 

HOMEFUN DUE MONDAY 2/3:  Please read Text pp 107-109, and add to your charts as appropriate.  How did each of these factors contribute to industrialization?  pay attention to vocabulary!

On Friday we took the Unit 3 assessment.  If you missed it, you can take it during flex lunch Wednesday 1/29.  You’ll need 45 minutes.

HOMEFUN DUE TUESDAY 1/28: Please read and take notes on gilded age intro ushist.    How did the economy begin to change in the late 1800s?  How/why did this happen?  What role did the government play in this growth?

On Tuesday night 1/28 there will be an informational meeting about next year’s spring break trip to Greece. It will be at 6 pm  in Mr. Douthit’s room. For Friday 1/24 – Unit 3 Assessment!

On Wednesday we reviewed for our unit 3 Assessment.  We completed our Source Analysis worksheets, we worked on the End of Unit Narrative Review, and we looked at potential test questions.  Source Analysis and P2 Practice    End of Unit 3 Review

HOMEFUN DUE FRIDAY 1/24: Prepare for your Unit 3 Assessment!  This is the biggest piece of your 3rd 9-weeks grade, so take it seriously.  Use your Unit 3 Major Themes 19-20 as a guide.  See the potential questions on the back of the End of Unit 3 Review.  See other resources on the Unit 3 Tab above. 

You’ll be asked to write a Paper 2 Part A and a Part B response.  You should also have your completed American Empire Map to turn in.

For Wednesday 1/22

On Friday we gave our last presentations, and we continued a bit of source analysis and practice on past exam questions.  Source Analysis and P2 Practice    Presentations Day 3

HOMEFUN DUE WEDNESDAY 1/22: Please read Text 97-98 Hawaii Philippines  Why was the US interested in Hawaii & how did they acquire it?  What happened in the Philippines after the Spanish-American War and how did the US react?

Also, be sure to bring your Source Analysis and P2 Practice worksheet to class.  We will finish it in class, and turn it in on Wednesday.   You’ll also turn in your completed American Empire Map on Wednesday.

The Unit 3 assessment will be on Friday 1/24.  Start looking over your Unit 3 – Past Paper 2 Questions and your Unit 3 Major Themes 19-20.

 

For Wednesday 1/15

On Monday we took a homework quiz, we began presentations (North America & Central America/Caribbean), we added more to our maps, and we did a couple of practice Paper 2 questions.

HOMEFUN DUE WEDNESDAY 1/15:  Please read Text pp 93-94 US in China Japan, and take notes.  Why and how did the us begin to get involved in China? Why and how did the US begin to get involved with Japan?  Pay attention to vocabulary!

 

For Monday 1/13

On Thursday we took a quiz, reviewed the Spring 20 Syllabus, did a Mid Unit 3 Review, practiced some Unit 3 – Past Paper 2 Questions, and briefly identified some places on American Empire Map.

HOMEFUN DUE MONDAY 1/13. Please read Text 90-92 14 Pts and Postwar Deals.  Why did the Allies reject most of Wilson’s 14 Points?  Why did the US not accept the Treaty of Versailles & League of Nations?  What were the Dawes Plan, the Young, Plan, and the Kellogg-Briand Pact?

Group Projects:  The North America and the Central America/Caribbean groups will present on Monday 1/13.  We’ll watch their videos, I’ll pass out their study guides, and they’ll answer any questions.  The Europe group will go Wednesday 1/15, and the Asia group will go Friday 1/17.

For Thursday 1/9

On Tuesday we began reading & taking notes on US-European relations.  We spent most of the period working to complete our group videos and shared docs.  Text pp 85-87 – US Europe.  Project Last Day  Project videos and shared documents are due Wednesday 1/8 no later than 11:59 pmLate projects will receive 10 points off for each day they are late.

HOMEFUN DUE THURSDAY 1/9:  Please read and take notes on Text pp 88-89 – US in WW I.  Why did the US enter WW I after trying to remain neutral?  How did the US get involved, and what were the results?  What was President Wilson’s vision for post-war Europe.
